United I’ll never forget the morning. The tv was on because it was 1st period and most classes showed the news. Slowly each student began staring at the television, and almost like clockwork, someone came in and turned it off. A girl in front of me appeared to freeze like a statue and this weird stillness came over the room. I can’t remember the moments after but we were gathered in the auditorium and told what happened. I’ll never forget the faces of my classmates who had loved ones going to, at, or around World Trade Center that morning. It was the saddest and most confirming look I had ever seen. We were forever changed. 9/11 transcended our divides by race, culture, SES. We were all affected. The idea of freedom most Americans held so dear was taken in an instant. The feeling is still hard to shake. All these years later, we persevere. On we rock.
